George Harrison's tunic and John Lennon's guitar go on display today for the Rock Hall's latest exhibit,
Help! Behind the Scenes of the Beatles' Movie, which brings the Fab Four's second feature film to life with memorabilia from the 1965 flick.In this spoof on James Bond thrillers, a fan sends Ringo a ceremonial ring, set with a large red stone. Clueless, he becomes the target of two groups of fanatics: an obscure Asian cult that believes in human sacrifice and two mad scientists, who want the ring for themselves. Thinking the bauble is a deadly omen, the band tries to get rid of it during a chase from the streets of London to the Austrian Alps and back to Buckingham Palace. The pursuit ends on the beaches of the Bahamas, with Scotland Yard hot on their trail. As a bonus, the film debuted seven classic Beatles songs, like "Ticket to Ride," "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away," and the title song.To give fans a peek behind the scenes, the exhibit also spotlights scripts, press kits, and tickets to the movie's premiere in New York. "We're fortunate that there were great archives of material from the filming of the movie," says Jim Henke, the museum's vice president of exhibitions. "We've tried to capture the zany spirit of the Beatles." Help! Behind the Scenes of the Beatles' Movie is on display from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays through Tuesdays until Sunday, March 30, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, 1 Key Plaza.
