A welder by day croons Billie Holiday at night

Cleveland theater
Blowtorch Singer A weekday welder croons Billie Holiday on weekends. Kim Reynolds chuckles when she recalls the first time her mother heard her warble a few bars of the sugary '70s tune "Feelings." At the age of five, she fumbled most of the words, but nailed the melody. "I swore up and down that I made up that song," says Reynolds. Three decades later, Reynolds is sitting in with jazz vet Evelyn Wright at the latter's performances at Swingos every Sunday. A welder by trade ("I have to pay my bills," she says), Reynolds is keeps her voice in shape by crooning Billie Holiday standards. "I don't lean toward ever being a professional," she says. "But when you're blessed with the ability to sing, you're professional from the day you were born."
