That special day when two people commit to each forever can be a blissful occasion marked with a lavish ceremony, mile-high cake, and bottles of bubbly. Or it can be an expensive nightmare from the bowels of chiffon-covered hell. Fortunately, there's today's All the Steps You Need to Walk Down the Aisle Bridal Fair, with experts on long-range marriage planning, budget balancing, and family counseling. There will also be a fairy-tale wedding-gown fashion show and ballroom-dancing demos for klutzy couples. "Some of the more interesting concerns involve etiquette questions on how to deal with all these different families coming together, like if it's appropriate for the mothers to walk brides down the aisle," says Kristy Brown, spokeswoman for the 16th annual fair, which is sponsored by 104.1-FM WQAL. The best part is, it doesn't cost a dime. Brides-to-be can snag goodie bags of gift certificates for health-spa sessions, wine baskets, and romantic dinners for two at Cleveland's trendiest restaurants. Couples can also hire photographers, florists, stylists, designers, and caterers right on the spot. "It's just not for the big day itself," says Brown. "It's something of a bridal boot camp for everyone involved, including the new in-laws!" The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, 24 Public Square. Admission is free. Call 216-696-0123 or visit
