Mardi Gras zydeco
Black metal rattles the rafters at Peabody's tonight, when headliner Rotting Christ takes the stage after opening acts Immolation, Belphegor, Averse Sefira, and Sathanas, all on their 26-day Lucifer Over America tour. The show also helps the Texas-based Averse Sefira peddle its latest CD, Advent Parallax, with such devil-worship ditties as "Descension," "Detonation," "Condemned to Glory," and the cryptic "Plagabraha." "Together, we will cast open the furnaces of damnation and scorch the claws of winter," boasts Wrath Sathariel Diabolus, the trio's bassist and a pretty serious fellow. "This album is our definitive worship-made weapon, and one that shall galvanize the believers and confound the uninitiated." The thrashing starts at 8 tonight at Peabody's, 2083 East 21st Street. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Call 216-776-9999 or visit www.peabodys.com.
