Entertainment Picks of the Week

Jen Schefft
This week's top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who's paid to pick them: Monday: Jen Schefft is destined to be single for the rest of her life. She turned down two different guys during her Bachelor and Bachelorette stints, and has a new book -- Better Single Than Sorry — about how she don't need no stinking man in her life. She signs it at Joseph-Beth tonight. Tuesday: The Great Lakes Brewing Company's Brewmaster's Dinner outings are always cool. They pair tasty dishes with even tastier beers. Tonight's menu is all Greek. Did we mention there'll be beer? Wednesday: That 1 Guy plays something called the Magic Pipe, which looks a lot like the world's biggest bong. He makes music on it that sounds a lot like the freak-out stuff Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa used to play. You may want to hit your own magic pipe before his Beachland show tonight. Thursday: The Pop Shop's cool new King James exhibit has nothing to do with LeBron. Rather, it's the first-ever retrospective by local artist Jim Morana, who we hear has an awesome hook shot. Friday: Red {an orchestra} pays tribute to Frank Zappa tonight at Masonic Auditorium. Hopefully, you didn't put away your magic pipe from Wednesday's show. --Michael Gallucci
