At todays Yu-Gi-Oh! Open Play at the Lorain Public Library, longtime player Ernie Hernandez referees matches of the mega-popular Japanese card game. The game promotes friendship, math skills, and decision-making, he says. Its still evolving, but the most important thing is to have fun. There are more than 2,000 registered duelists in Ohio; Hernandez ranks in the Top 375 after participating in many regional tournaments. Im taking my A-game with me every time, he says. I may not be a champ yet, but Im a well-rounded and seasoned opponent.
