No, you're not seeing things. That really is former Saturday Night Live bandleader and guitarist G.E. Smith playing at every Browns home game this season. Turns out, Smith and team owner Randy Lerner are Long Island neighbors. "Randy needed some adjustment on his guitar, and we ended up spending the afternoon playing on my porch," explains Smith. "He suggested I put a band together for a couple preseason games. We loved it, so here we are." The four-piece group was initially positioned on a catwalk in the stands, but it has since found a home near the northeast corner of the end zone, where Smith jams during breaks, just as he did on SNL. "I'm certainly not a free agent," he says. "This is the only team I'd do this for." Check him out when the Browns play the San Diego Chargers at 1 p.m. Sunday at Browns Stadium, 100 Alfred Lerner Way. Tickets are $32 to $63; call 216-241-5555. -- Steve Albanese

Rocket Power

In his five years as head hockey coach at Bay High School, Terry Chadwick has seen his share of late game comebacks. His favorite? Last year's match between the Bay Rockets and Avon Lake Shoremen. "It was scoreless until one of the co-captains scored a goal with 3:43 to go in the game!" he exclaims. "Another co-captain set up a goal and followed with an insurance goal of his own, with 1:43 to go in the game." He's counting on the same unpredictability at this weekend's Rocket Tournament at Winterhurst Ice Rink. It's the 15th time Bay has hosted the contest, which pits four local high school teams (Midview, Solon, and Chagrin Falls join Bay this year) against each other. The tourney happens from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Winterhurst, 14740 Lakewood Heights Boulevard in Lakewood. Tickets are $3. Call 216-529-4400 for more information. -- Lucy McKernan

Don't Expect Any Sow Cows

SAT 12/18

Is there anything jolly ol' Saint Nick can't do? He's mastered the whole going-down-chimneys thing. He keeps those hard-working elves in line. He eats tons of sugar-filled cookies and still defies gravity. He's even hosting a Skate With Santa on Saturday, where kids can take to the rink with the big guy and maybe hit him up for another present or two. Divulges spokeswoman Karen Riedy: "Santa spends most of the time handing out candy canes." It happens from 2 to 4 p.m. at Winterhurst Ice Rink, 14740 Lakewood Heights Boulevard in Lakewood. Admission is $4.50. Call 216-529-4400 for more info. -- Lucy McKernan
