Handle With Care

Mug Night gets supersized at Panini's.

Laith Rashid has started a running challenge for Panini's Mug Night: If you can bring in any container with a handle, the club will fill it with domestic draft beer for $2. "I've been telling people, If you brought in a trash can, I would love to see that," jokes Rashid, one of the bar's cooks. Not so fast, says general manager Tim Swan. He's limiting the special to large coffee mugs, 64-ounce cups from Speedway, and 84-ounce beer steins. "Pitchers have handles, but they're still pitchers," says Swan. "If you can look me in the eye, and say, ‘Yes, this is a mug,' then it's a mug. But if you glue a handle on a bathtub, it's still a bathtub."
