A happy hooker learns about being a good Samaritan this afternoon in Lake Erie College's production of The Good Woman of Setzuan. In Bertolt Brecht's epic tale, three gods come to a bustling Chinese city to deal with the immorality of the poor and miserable. To their surprise, they find one "good soul" in a meek prostitute named Shen Te, who offers them a place to stay for the night. To keep her from working the streets, the gods offer her 1,000 silver dollars to support herself. But Shen Te wants to share her fortune. She tries to offer some of the money to her neighbors, but they only want more than she can give. Written in 1943 about pre-Communist China, the parable pits love and sharing against greed and manipulation. Curtain time is 2 p.m. today at the C.K.
