"Everyone is psychic; everyone has intuition," claims Karen David, a medium and spiritualist who will be lecturing this Saturday at the Southeast branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library. Her program, Your Psychic Powers -- the Facts Revealed, seeks to expand people's understanding of their own powers and to overcome some of the blocks to developing those gifts.
Although David won't disclose the nature of the exercises, she insists that participants will be using their intuition during the program, and she will teach them to feel their own energy fields (how often do you get to do that in public?). David also will be sharing her abilities as a medium by giving personal "spot messages" à la TV talk show regular James Van Praagh.
"The intuition doesn't always give you the why; it gives you the answer. That's why people don't trust it," David says, explaining that most people just need to listen when they receive a message. "They don't listen to it because they don't believe it. They're getting it, but they don't trust it." She hopes her program will help people learn to listen and trust.
Although many of us may view energy fields and messages from beyond as downright flaky, David, who was recently awarded an honorary doctorate in divinity from the Universal Spiritualist Association, emphasizes the practical benefits of developing intangible psychic abilities. "Say somebody puts a research project on you, but, logically, you don't know where to go. You're getting a feeling, and you go and look in a computer in a place nobody told you to go -- and you find the answer."
