I'm Game!

Barhoppers pack into Westlake nightspot for contest night.

Time Warp owner Rob Rogers is at his savviest, most nights of the week, when he comes up with games for his patrons to play. Tonight, revelers pay half-price for their drinks if they can beat a bartender at a round of Rock, Paper, Scissors. And for the past six months, chances have been sweet that the customer will win. "It's been a little higher than the mathematical average. I know my bartenders are cheating a little, when you know the law of averages. I say, 'Gee, you're pretty terrible at this,'" laughs Rogers. "It's something fun to get people in on a Wednesday night."Before you leave, you can test your skills in the bar's electronic PS3 Guitar Hero competition, on its 84-inch plasma screen. The "guitarist" who plays the most notes correctly scores a $50 gift certificate. But beware: Rogers can spot a pro from across the bar. "We don't want ringers, people who are amazing at it," says Rogers. "If somebody is amazing, they would win week after week, and nobody would want to try it."For the average competitor, the trick to winning the game is to have nimble fingers. "The pointer finger is easy, but the ring finger and pinkie are a pain in the ass," says Rogers. "But if you're good at video games, you'll pick up on it fast." Rock, Paper, Scissors and Guitar Hero both start at 9 tonight at Time Warp, 26261 Center Ridge Road in Westlake. Admission is free. Call 440-871-8463 or visit www.myspace.com/twbwestlake.
