Lorain County guitarist Diana Tyler is sneaky elf when it comes to raising money for tonight's
Christmas Carol Wars. If you can pony up the cash for her favorite charity, she promises she won't play any "hideous" holiday songs. "That's where the bidding will begin," says Tyler. "Whether I play the songs or not will depend on which warring side bids highest." The benefit for the holistic Pathways Counseling and Growth Center in Elyria is also Tyler's laid-back way of getting her audience caught up in a holiday sing-along. Just follow her lead. "Most people are pretty shy. But they know there's safety in numbers, so they'll gladly sing at their tables," says Tyler. "But for those who want a minute in the spotlight, I try to convey that we're not aiming for perfection, just a good time." The bidding battle begins at 6 tonight at the Carlisle Café, 1509 Grafton Road in Elyria. Admission is free. Call 440-458-6516.
