Last Call Cleveland: Songs of Denigration and Mirth

If the above video – or this one – makes you laugh, then you might want to clear your Friday night, when Last Call Cleveland will perform these and other ridiculous songs at Lakewood’s Winchester Tavern, 12112 Madison Avenue. Band leader Mike Polk says the set list is, sadly, “mostly songs that denigrate women. Which wasn’t intentional. Until you go over all the songs you’ve performed, you don’t realize what a horrible person you are.” There’s something else Polk has realized: “We’ve only rehearsed like three times. We’re already bored … I don’t understand how fucking Jimmy Buffet sings the same shitty songs 500 times.” Still, Polk promises a riveting rendition of “There’s Nothing Special About You,” which he calls “a tribute to women everywhere.” Two local comics will open. The show starts at 8 p.m. and costs five dollars. Proceeds will go toward the comics’ drinking problems. – Joe P. Tone
