Alabama rockers Maylene & the Sons of Disaster come off like the kid that Black Sabbath and Lynyrd Skynyrd conceived one wild drunken night together back in the ’70s, but refuse to talk about now. On its second album, II, the band loads up on Southern boogie riffs, hardcore vocal shreds, and Prohibition-era mythmaking. Led by Dallas Taylor (who used to be a member of current tourmates Underoath), Maylene and the Sons of Disaster thrive on backwoods legends about the gun-toting Ma Barker and the vigilantes who brought her gang to justice.
