Mikey G's Top Weekend Picks

Black 47
This weekend's top arts and entertainment picks around town, from the guy who's paid to pick them: Friday: Do people still watch Texas hold 'em tournaments on TV? Do people still play Texas hold 'em? The folks behind tonight's Casino Night at Grays Armory are banking on it. You don't get to pocket any winnings, per se. But chips can be swapped for raffle tickets for chances to snag gift certificates from local restaurants and hotel packages. Plus, a buffet featuring hors d'oeuvres and desserts and an open bar give it all that Vegas vibe. Saturday: It doesn't matter that St. Patrick's Day was a week ago. It's gonna be a celebration of the green all over again when Black 47 plays Wilbert's tonight. The band's latest CD, Bittersweet Sixteen, gathers 15 years' worth of sweaty Celtic punk. Chances are pretty good you'll hear a lot of those songs tonight between rounds of Guinness. Sunday: Today's the last day to check out the Cleveland International Film Festival at Tower City. Top picks: Jeff Lipsky's talky love story, Flannel Pajamas, and fest closer, Eagle vs. Shark, a quirky New Zealand comedy about a videogame nerd who spends his time plotting revenge against a bully and the fast-food worker who loves him. --Michael Gallucci
