Mixin' it up

Flats fight fest knocks out spectators with top-ranked pugilists.

The largest mixed-martial-arts showdown ever in the Midwest blows into town tonight for Fight Nite in the Flats IV. Hosted by the North American Allied Fight Series, the schedule of 18 bouts gives you a chance to see a level of fighting usually seen only on TV. That's because the competitors are nationally ranked fighters, who can go the distance through three five-minute rounds. They include Jason Dent, who's been featured in a string of televised Ultimate Fighting Championship bouts. "The atmosphere is something you have to see," says organizer Greg Kalikas. "It's something you can't experience anywhere else." The fights start at 6 tonight at the Plain Dealer Pavilion, 2014 Sycamore Street on the West Bank of the Flats. Tickets are $30 to $100.
