Nobody gets to be an overnight success overnight, but North Coast Central Casting's Acting Lessons can help you on your way. "It takes dedication," says acting coach Ray Szuch. "It's not a hobby." The twice-weekly workshops focus on two or three scenes from a film script; once a month, the performances are put on tape, viewed, and analyzed. Szuch says his class is the only one in the area "set up for TV and film," which means you won't be getting any of that fancy-schmancy thespian stuff here. As a casting house, NCCC hosts weekly auditions, and Szuch says his students typically get first dibs on roles. The projects range from small independent films to major Hollywood pictures. "If you go to L.A. without experience or a résumé, they say, 'Go get it.'" Got it. Get ready for your close-up from 8 to 10 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday at North Coast Central Casting, 4913 Storer Avenue. The first class is free, then it's $45 per month; call 216-651-5441. -- Nadia Michel
