Outrageous Fortune

Cleveland art
Billy Wilder's 1966 comedy The Fortune Cookie is one of the filmmaker's funniest movies. Partly shot at the old Municipal Stadium, the film stars Jack Lemmon as a TV cameraman who's injured on the sidelines of a Browns game. Walter Matthau, who won an Oscar for the role, plays his brother-in-law, Whiplash Willie, a shady lawyer who ups the damages to bilk the insurance company. Before today's screening, the Cinematheque will show a rare trailer that Wilder and crew made especially for Clevelanders.
Fri., Nov. 24, 9:40 p.m.
