Monday: The Lake County Captains can help you stretch your dollar with its Buck Night deal on dogs and suds as the Tribe’s single-A club takes on the Delmarva Shorebirds, who sound like a made up team but are apparently real (we checked the web site twice). Tuesday: Learn all about the ocean’s most misunderstood creature at the opening of the
Akron Zoo’s newest exhibit, Jellies: Rhythm in the Blue. On display for the next three years, the collection of jellyfish also includes an array of starfish, sea urchins, and crabs. The exhibit can be seen from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at the Akron Zoo, 500 Edgewood Avenue in Akron. Admission is $5.50 for kids and $9 for adults. For more information, call 330-375-2550.
Wednesday: In the
Sculpture Center’s largest show of the year, 19 artists have contributed 25 pieces for its annual On a Pedestal and Off the Wall exhibit. To further expand the collection, the gallery opened the door for non-Ohioans to contribute. This year, the artwork comes from as far as Ontario. See for yourself between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Sculpture Center, 1834 East 123rd Street. Admission is free. Thursday: The one-man band Cotton Jones Basket Ride tools into town for a 9 p.m. concert, during which ex-Page France singer Michael Nau promotes his limited-release EP, The Archery. The Maryland songwriter liken his originals to “fuzzed-out psychedelic pop.” He performs at the
