There aren't too many stage productions that rival The Lion King's majestic scope and ambition. The Tony-hogging musical -- which opens tonight at Playhouse Square -- is based on Disney's animated movie, but looks nothing at all like it. Masks, puppets, and groundbreaking choreography set the tone for a terrific work that's wowed both highfalutin critics and mainstream audiences with its abstract minimalism.
