Rub-a-Dub-Dub

Hot Tub Party offers suds and fun.

The eight-seat whirlpool at Around the Corner’s weekly Hot Tub Party has been tempting a few patrons to try and break at least one liquor law. “Some think they can go in the buff, but the state says that’s a no-no,” says bar manager Char Neargardner. “We have everybody taking a dip in boxers and bikinis.”

A side attraction includes gals competing in a frozen T-shirt competition. Contestants slip on ice-cold tees and the one who wears hers the longest snags a prize. After the contest, the company that wheels in the portable tub every week raffles off chances for a wet-and-wild party at the winner’s home. “It takes coaxing to get people in the tub,” says Neargardner. “It starts off chilly. But if you’re in it awhile, it gets hot.”
Thursdays, 9 p.m. Starts: July 27. Continues through Sept. 7
