Spin the Black Circle

Cleveland theater
Music Saves marks its third anniversary today with live music all afternoon at the neighboring Beachland Tavern. Local bands like Coffinberry, the X Bolex, and Soft Spots help celebrate the vinyl-lovin’ Collinwood record store, which specializes in Americana and indie rock. “We stick to artists whose genuine feel for genuine non-manufactured music can be recognized by other musicians without prima-donna agents or million-dollar video budgets -- artists whose ambition, image, or moderate success hasn’t superseded the music,” says co-owner Melanie Hershberger. Today’s bash -- which includes an after-party with cake at the record shop -- features food, T-shirts, and Music Saves bumper stickers. “The store is our passion,” says Hershberger. “The success of all the music is the success of our store.”
