Twigger also stresses that Gaelic Storm doesn't just play songs that go well with alcohol. "That's part of the beauty of it," he says. "But there's lots of breadth and depth to Celtic music." The globe-spanning quintet boasts one Irishman, a Californian, a Canadian, and a fiddle player from Cincinnati. That mix, he says, helps define the music on its new CD, Bring Yer Wellies, out Tuesday. "We all grew up with Celtic music, but we all have different stories. All kinds of perspectives come together."
