Supreme Power

For four years, the Stylettes have been charming Pickwick & Frolic audiences with their energetic renditions of Motown's female-driven hits of the '60s. This weekend, their repertoire ranges from Tina Turner's "River Deep, Mountain High" to the Supremes' "You Can't Hurry Love." "It's the kind of music that everybody respects, no matter who you are," says director Michael Rogaliner. "Music from the '60s is pretty universally accepted. People party to it and don't really judge it."To keep the show fresh, the six-woman cast changes every summer. The current lineup includes ex-Singing Angel Rachel Schmidt, American Idol semifinalist Natalie Green, and Cleveland actress Jenna Elmore. Between songs, the gals recount an imaginary tale of flying from Las Vegas to Cleveland for a bachelorette party. After they land at Hopkins Airport, they're stopped by suspicious Homeland Security agents over the gifts they've brought for the bride-to-be. They lighten the story by launching into song. "They're really good at getting the audience to clap along," says Rogaliner. "Even I'm amazed when an entire audience gets up and dances. It's like dancing in the streets."
