The Pug Life

Puppies and people dress up and get down.

Pug Social's second annual Puggy Prom, "Puggin' on the Ritz," puts the popular googly-eyed pups and their doting owners on the same dance floor at the MetroBark on Payne Avenue tonight. "Where else in Cleveland can you go out and dance, with over 80 dogs running around in little tuxes and ridiculous dresses?" asks Pug Social founder Amanda Kleps. For humans, it's a chance to relive those "cheesy high-school moments." The Prom Court, however, goes to the lucky dogs crowned Prom King and Queen. Parents also get to bid on gift baskets full of art prints and Paul Mitchell products, and compete in dog-owner dance contests. And man and beast alike can chow at a buffet of cold appetizers, a pasta bar, and chocolate dipping fountains for humans, and a doggy spread of Grateful Dog Bakery goodies. Puggy Prom 2008 is from 6 to 9 tonight at MetroBark, 3939 Payne Avenue in Cleveland. Tickets are $20. Call 216-881-3644 or visit www.pugsocial.com.
