The right-wing Daily Show

Republicans may have suffered a crushing defeat at the polls, but it appears Fox News will have the last laugh, literally. The news channel, which falls just left of David Koresh on the political spectrum, plans to launch two half-hour pilot episodes in January of a news satire show being billed as The Daily Show for conservatives The show, tentatively named This Just In, will be anchored by Kurt Long of the Game Show Network and Susan Yeagley, host of World's Funniest Commercials. The pairing works great, because if you miss the show, you'll easily be able to replicate the experience by popping a bottle of Vicodin and watching Lou Dobbs Tonight. Apparently, Fox is relying on the Democrats to provide enough comedy to carry the show themselves. Expect lots of jokes about the tax code and municipal finance instruments. This Just In is being produced by Joel Surnow, creator of the hit series 24. In an interview with Variety, Surnow said he is tired of seeing the Bush administration lambasted over and over again. "The other side hasn't been skewered in a fair and balanced way," he said. -- Jared Klaus
