People can score a last-minute Father’s Day gift at today’s DadsDay Run. Everyone who crosses the finish line at the fifth-annual outing gets a tie. “We put them around their necks, like medals,” says director Peter Nagusky. The day features three races: a 5K opening race, a 1K run, and a 100-meter Kidsprint. The kickoff jog loops around tree-lined Shaker Heights neighborhoods, but it’s the toddler competition that gets everyone excited, says Nagusky. “They run this race with their bibs on.” All participants score a commemorative T-shirt, while victors snag trophies. More than anything, says Nagusky, it’s a way for families to bond with Dad on this very special day. “I’m running around behind the scenes,” he says. “But my kids always come out and race for me.”
