Todays AP Tour at House of Blues features four new bands picked by Alternative Press as having a pretty good chance for a stellar 2007. We think two of the groups have a shot. As Tall as Lions gets all dreamy on its second, self-titled album. The scruffy New York indie-rockers sound like one of those moody post-Radiohead bands, like Snow Patrol or Coldplay. Yet it builds quite a bit of tension with its atmospheric space-rock. Meanwhile, headliners Cute Is What We Aim For fall into Fall Out Boys stable of starry-eyed pop-punks. Its debut album, The Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch, is loaded with just as many chewy hooks, fuzzy riffs, and wordy titles (Sweat the Battle Before the Battle Sweats You, I Put the Metro in Metronome) as anything Pete Wentzs crew has come up with.
