Trails of Tails

Melting a few pounds is as easy as a walk in the park with your pooch.

Here's the skinny on this morning's Strut Your Mutt stroll: Dog owners are often more fit than those who sit at home with a bag of Fritos on their lap and watch Animal Planet all day. That's why the Cleveland Clinic has partnered with the Animal Protective League to lure pet owners and owner-wannabes to walk up to two miles on the Cleveland Metroparks' trails. If you have a vaccinated, friendly dog, bring him on a leash. If you don't, the APL will pair you with a Fido that's up for adoption. And everybody gets a supply of waste bags for the occasional doggie dump on the path. Hit the pavement at 9 this morning at the Brookside Reservation between Ridge and Fulton roads. Fee is $10 in advance and $15 at the park. Call 216-623-9933 or visit www.hermescleveland.com.
