Bats don't get their parties started till dusk. So fans of the furry, flying critters will have to wait till sunset tonight to check them out at Cleveland Metropark's annual
Bat Gala. Naturalists lead folks on a search, hauling out nets to snag a few of the winged freaks for close-up looks. "Our experts work hard to prove the much-maligned bat is actually a warm and fuzzy friend to both people and the environment," says Metroparks spokesman Bob Rotatori. Bats
love to chow down on insects, so their presence on mosquito-filled summer nights is actually a blessing. The event also features bat-related games, exhibits, crafts, and songs. "It's a chance to really
see these wonderful creatures," says Rotatori.
