Wicked smart

Cleveland art
Canton native Lee Wilkof stars as the man behind the curtain in tonight's production of the Wizard of Oz knockoff Wicked at Playhouse Square. Along with Wilkof, a Law & Order and Curb Your Enthusiasm alum, the cast of the Tony Award-winning musical includes acting-vet Carmen Cusack as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and the recently hired Katie Rose Clark as Glinda, the Good Witch. But the script is not your typical ding-dong-the-witch-is-dead tale. In this ramped-up version, the two witches meet as roommates in college. The curtain rises at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sundays, through Sunday, March 9, at the State Theatre, 1519 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $29.50 to $84.50. Call 216-241-6000 or visit www.playhousesquare.org.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sundays, 1 & 6:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 8. Continues through March 9, 2008
