Best Place to Hang with Bikers: Geneva-on-the-Lake

Geneva-on-the-Lake sometimes seems like the resort town that time forgot. The greasy snack bars, the dusty game arcades, the dodge-em cars, the miniature golf and the vintage postcards in the souvenir shops all seem left over from another decade. But you know what that means? It's cheap and informal. While the town was known three decades ago for attracting a rough element, that element has grown up, married and had kids — and still comes back on their Harleys. Old classic rock and metal go over best here — the venerable Cove (5326 Lake Rd.), in business four decades, is heavy on metal bands, and many of the bars have "bike nights." On a summer evening, there'll be hundreds of motorcycles parked on the Lake Road strip. But the bikers are more likely to be enjoying a hot dog, watching their kids play on the water slide or picking up a new Lynyrd Skynyrd T-shirt for their old lady than looking for a fight.
