New Kate Voegele CD Coming in May

Kate Voegele, the area's best pop-minded female singer-songwriter, has a new album coming out on May 19. It's called A Fine Mess, and it's produced by Mike Elizondo, who's worked with Rihanna, Pink and Maroon 5. The first single is the rockin' "99 Times."

Voegele has been hella busy the past couple years. Her debut album, Don't Look Away, had a couple different lives. First it was released independently, then it was picked up for bigger distribution by Interscope (which is releasing A Fine Mess) and then it was released again with bonus tracks and a new cover.

The 22-year-old Bay Village native has also been on the road for most of the past couple years, as Don't Look Away picked up steam. She also has a recurring role on One Tree Hill as a singer-songwriter.

Voegele launches a tour a few weeks before the album comes out. It starts in Utah and winds down in Seattle a couple months later. A Cleveland show is scheduled for May 6 at House of Blues' Cambridge Room. But, if her past is any indication, it's probably the first of many gigs she'll be playing over the next two years. —Michael Gallucci
