Cobra Verde Get Bloody

Cleveland indie-rockers Cobra Verde join such heavy-hitters and seminal artists as the Flying Burrito Brothers, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Lee Dorsey, Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams and John Doe of X on the just-released soundtrack album for True Blood, the HBO series about vampires in a small Louisiana town.

Cobra Verde’s contribution is an hushed, ominous version of the Rolling Stones classic “Play With Fire,” which you can preview at their MySpace page.

All of the songs on the soundtrack album were featured during the show’s first season, which debuted last fall. Cobra Verde’s contribution appeared in the seventh episode. —Anastasia Pantsios
