Dusk Plays Cain Amphitheater at Dusk on Saturday

Isn’t “Matt Dusk” just the perfect name for a crooner of romantic standards? Apparently, it’s the real name of jazz singer Matthew-Aaron Dusk, a young performer following in the footsteps of singers like Harry Connick Jr., Michael Feinstein and fellow Canadian Michael Bublé as an interpreter of mid-20th-century pop standards for a mainstream crowd.

The 30-year-old Toronto native not only has the warm tones and smooth phrasing, he’s got the rakish sophisticate look down pat: thick, dark, glossy hair, well-cut suits, a hint of a five o’clock shadow. On his two Decca albums, he stakes his claim convincingly to oft-performed tunes like “The Way You Look Tonight,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “As Time Goes By” and “The Best Is Yet to Come.”

He’s got a new release, titled Good News, in the pipeline. He should be a perfect fit for Cain Park’s Evans Amphitheater where he performs at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets: $17-$23. Call the Cain Park box office at 216.371.3000. —Anastasia Pantsios
