OK, so it’s not really rock ’n’ roll. But this weekend, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will lend its big lobby stage to performers of various cultures to show off their distinctive ethnic music and dances.

From noon-5 p.m. Sunday, October 11, the Rock Hall’s annual World Festival returns with performers from Brazil, China, Serbia, India, Jamaica, the Ukraine and the U.S. — even Cleveland. Dancers include the Chicago Style Steppers, the Kashtan Ukrainian Dancers, Cleveland-based belly-dance group the Wind and Sand Dance Company, the Cleveland Hand Dancers ensemble, belly dancer Meera Patel and Mahima Venkatesh from India.

Brazilian jazz guitarist Moises Borges, reggae band NuHu , the Melos Serbian Ensemble and the Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble offer music from around the world.

Edging closer to rock are R&B performers Mallori and Cleveland vocal group the Hesitations, who had several mid-chart singles in the late ’60s; New Mexican Native-American metal trio Nativereign will bring the full-on rock.

The event includes a marketplace with vendors selling native products and crafts. It’s free; regular admission applies to the rest of the Rock Hall. —Anastasia Pantsios
