He’ll never be a music icon or savvy businessman on par with someone like Jay-Z, but Snoop Dogg has certainly taken to the role of hip-hop elder statesman. With worldwide album sales topping 30 million, Snoop has permeated pop culture on many levels since coming out of Long Beach, California, in 1992. The fact that he’s still so active is a testament to his staying power. In addition to serving as creative chairman for Priority Records, he recently released his 10th album, Malice N Wonderland. Low-key, even on the single “I Wanna Rock,” Snoop doesn’t get too worked up these days, which is probably a byproduct of being a proud parent and TV host. In his role as a record-company exec, Snoop is also overseeing a commemorative reissue campaign designed to mark the hip-hop label’s 25 years in the biz and compiled tracks for The West Coast Blueprint, a collection of classic gangsta rap tracks. He performs at 8 p.m. at House of Blues (308 Euclid Ave., 216.523.2583, houseofblues.com). Tickets: $35 advance, $38 day of show. —Jeff Niesel
