What to Do Tonight: Angels and Airwaves

Poop-joke free ... for now
  • Poop-joke free ... for now

Toward the end of their decade-long career — which they restarted last year with a reunion tour — Blink-182 had finally started to mature. Their last album, 2003’s self-titled effort, included songs about subjects other than masturbation and poop. That mentality also carried over to Angels and Airwaves, the side project led by Blink singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge. There’s not a single fart joke on the band’s first two albums, 2006’s We Don’t Need to Whisper and 2007’s I-Empire. Earlier this year, the band returned with Love, a free album that was available only on its website. Songs like “Shove” and “Letters to Go” recall U2 with their atmospheric bombast, moving DeLonge even further away from his potty-mouthed past. Angels and Airwaves play Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $20. —Jeff Niesel
