Jazz Moving Into Verve

Posted By on Fri, May 14, 2010 at 1:41 PM

Jazz 28, the homey little restaurant/jazz nightclub in Ohio City, has closed. But those looking for a place to listen to the area’s top jazz performers while enjoying some good food and drink don’t have to go far. The jazz aficionados behind Jazz 28 are presenting a similar roster of artists from 8:00-11:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday at Verve restaurant (1332 Carnegie Ave.). Tonight, versatile pop/R&B/jazz vocalist Evelyn Wright will be featured, accompanied by keyboard player David Thomas. Tomorrow, vocalist Debbie Gifford and keyboard player John Trczinski will offer their elegant take on pop-jazz; their collaboration yielded last year’s CD, One Day at a Time, featuring material the pair co-wrote. Go to http://jazz28.com/musicverve2.html for full schedule of performers. — Anastasia Pantsios
