More badass than youll ever be
  • More badass than you'll ever be

Tell Runaround Sue: Original rock & roll badass Dion is coming to the Rock Hall on July 7 as part of its educational Hall of Fame Series.

And this should be an interesting one. Dion got his start in the '50s leading the doo-wop group the Belmonts and scored a couple of the genre's greatest hits, including "Teenager in Love."

He went solo in the '60s and got even bigger. "The Wanderer" and "Runaround Sue" are two of rock's greatest singles — sweaty, greasy, and sexy songs about sweaty, greasy, and sexy boys and girls.

Throughout his 50-year career, Dion DiMucci has blended R&B, pop, rock, and country. He even racked up another chart-topper with the folky "Abraham, Martin and John" (about assassinated leaders) in 1968.

Dion also battled a nasty heroin addiction.

He's a huge influence on tough-talking NYC musicians like Lou Reed and Patti Smith. So yeah, the dude will have plenty to talk about.

The event kicks off with a film about Dion's rock & roll memories, followed by an interview session conducted by rock-critic blowhard Dave Marsh.

It all starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Rock Hall's Foster Theater. Admission is free, but you need to RSVP at edu@rockhall.org or 216-515-8426. —Michael Gallucci (follow me on Twitter @mgallucci)
