Fans of great guitar playing have two opportunities this weekend to hear one of the acknowledged masters of the instrument and possibly the most talented player Northeast Ohio has ever produced.

Phil Keaggy left the Youngstown-based trio Glass Harp in 1972 after releasing three much-admired albums on Decca and launched a solo career in contemporary Christian music the following year.

Since then, he’s built strong fan bases in both the Christian community and among guitar aficionados, releasing dozens of albums under his own name and doing session work for many of the top names in contemporary Christian music.

At 9 p.m. tonight, he’ll perform solo at the Winchester in Lakewood. Tickets are $20.

Tomorrow evening, Glass Harp, who have reunited periodically in the past 15 years, will perform outdoors at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville.

The band, which also includes bassist Dan Pecchio (a founding member of the Michael Stanley Band) and drummer John Sferra, is noted for its melodic improvisation, its quick-footed spontaneity, and its Beatles-influenced three-part harmonies. Tickets are $35. Go to glassharp.net for more information. —Anastasia Pantios
