Long before “Americana” become a music watchword and Cleveland produced bands like the Jack Fords, the Outcasts were playing rocking roots music.

The quartet of lead vocalist/guitarist Don Owens, lead guitarist John Incardona, drummers Paul Zorich and bassist Tony Cvijanovic were active from 1989 to 1993, releasing an album, Nationwide, in 1990.

The band also appeared on several compilations, showcased at the New Music Seminar, the CMJ Music Mararthon, and Cleveland’s Undercurrents. They also did a fair amount of regional touring.

They’ve just become the latest Cleveland band of the ’90s to do a reunion show. They’ll be playing tomorrow night at Stir (16700 Lorain Ave.).

Beyond Blue, another reuniting band from same era, open at 9 p.m. There’s no cover. —Anastasia Pantsios
