$130,000 Akron House Comes With Original Murals by Late Local Artist

The family of the late Donald Nichols, who passed away in March 2022, is selling his longtime home in Akron's Kenmore neighborhood  (757 Jason Ave.) and have thankfully found a broker who wants it and its stunning interior murals to survive intact for the next owner.

That wasn't the case with the first realtor they contacted, they told the Akron Beacon Journal. That person wanted to paint over the numerous original works by the Ralph Herzog, the late Barberton artist who was friends with Nichols and who was commissioned to paint murals around the house over the years, in the kitchen, bedrooms, stairwell and more.

Eric Cooper, a family friend who works for Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realty Portage Lakes, told the ABJ it would "be a shame" to paint over the works. "This is a great house," he said. "Someone is going to love this house. It is so cool."
