You may have noticed that stagnant construction sites are pretty much a thing of the past, with developers speeding up construction activity all across the metro. In case you were wondering just how many rental communities reached completion last year, apartment search website RENTCafé provided us with the numbers. No less than 13 major rental projects with over 50 units were completed in Cleveland in 2015, adding 2,066 new apartments to the local inventory.
Last year’s biggest community was The Vue with 348 rental units in a single, colossal construction in Beachwood. By contrast, 2014’s largest property by unit count was the residential component of the Concierge Living at the 9 mixed-use project in Downtown Cleveland with 194 apartments.
As expected, location is one of the top factors that dictates what renters shell out on housing every month. Apartment homes at the Residences at 1717 in Downtown Cleveland, for example, come with some amazing amenities—and prices to match naturally. Rents for 2 BD, 2-bath units at this upscale complex range from approx. $1,700 to $2,700 a month. Retreat at Stonecrest by Redwood, another high-profile apartment community in Wadsworth, offers 2-bedroom, 2-bath + den apartment homes with rents starting at $1,185/mo.
