Re: “Clark Fulton & the Stockyards

This is a very nice guide to our neighborhoods. Hopefully there will be lots more unique attractions added in the future that are organic to our pleasantly diverse community

Happy St. Patrick's day. Thank you for the article. A nice article about a great neighborhood. There are a lot of "Brooklyns" to appreciate. We like Gus's diner on State.

Re: “The 26 Essential Cleveland Restaurants

I guess it's impossible for Trattner to write an article without lots of cursing. Some of us want to read a list, or share a list, without loads of crassness. Trattner is a decent writer, but he's like any show that's on cable stations like TNT or FX and not a major network like CBS: they swear every other word because they can, and they think it makes them edgy even though it's just lazy writing and adds nothing to the story. Because he's at Scene and not a regular newspaper, it's f-bombs away. Stay classy.

Re: “The 26 Essential Cleveland Restaurants

Wow, a half-dozen of Cleveland's finest restaurants in Tremont, what the heck is the world coming-to? When I lived there back in 1987 all we had was Miracle's, Steve's Friendly Bar, Sindy's Tavern., and the University Inn, plus the old Lawson's store if you were desperate too..

I can sure testify that Slyman's has great corned beef as I was a regular there 25 years or more ago too., and it used to be right up the street The Croation Tavern had a really decent open-faced strip-steak sandwich on their lunch menu for a decent price too, back when Joe ran the place.

Whatever happened to George's Kitchen out at Berea Rd and Triskett? They used to be one of the best breakfast restaurants around. I know The Dock in Lakewood is long-closed but the Tick Tock Tavern is still around too.

Whatever happened to Nighttown up on Cedar Hill or even Corky and Lennie's right off the end of the Van Aken rapid? Even the Harbor Inn was a decent place years ago too, and if you want fresh Amish butter I personally recommend Irene Dever's place at the West Side Market indoors, even though her daughter is running the operation now. too.

So what do you folks do for late-night dining after the bars close now? Back in the day we had the Best Steak House on Prospect that was open 24 hours, Hot Sauce Williams, even further back Fat Boy's in an old Burger Chef out on Euclid east of E. 55th St, the Hot Dog Inn on Lorain, the Shrimp Boat, and I can't remember the name of the place out at East 21st and Superior that used to have the Bag of Burgers for only $1.00 at 4:00 AM too. Not too bad for only $1.00 either.

Not too bad for not having lived in Cleveland since 1991, eh?

Re: “Towpath Trails and Bus Lines Provide Alternate Modes of Transportation

I'd also challenge the "kinda need a car" mentality that exists in Cleveland. It's definitely not do-able in every neighborhood, but I've been car-free in Cleveland for three or four years and I'm far from the only one. Most people (in any city) who say "you need a car" are people who drive a car. They also more thank likely live in a suburb and rarely (if ever) take transit themselves.

Re: “The Cleveland Bands You Should Be Listening to Right Now

I love how people are complaining about links. If you just google the band, I am sure there will be plenty of links that pop up. Just a couple of mouse clicks folks. Not hard!

Re: “Playhouse Square Revue

I vividly recall being told that Welden Carpenter was "a nut" and if he calls again hang up on him. I also recall being told similar things about Ray. I think the word used to describe him, in a rather condescending way, was "visionary". This was about 10 years ago.

Funny to me that they employed a "creatologist" to do the work of the "visionary" that the new administration hated crediting.

It's Connor Palace. And why are you reposting an article that's a month old?
