Re: “Best of Cleveland Readers' Choice

The West Side Market is to "Best Farmers Market" as Frank and Jimmy are to honest and ethical local government. To be sure the WSM is an architectural and historic gem, but the food not so much. Don't go looking for a "real farmer" or much in the way of fresh, locally grown or raised food. You can find most of the same, but fresher products at Dave's, Heinen's and Giant Eagle.

And if you are concerned with food safety and traceability do you care that too many of the inside vendors remove the meat products from the manufacturer's packaging? There is a significant lack of important, and sometimes required information about the source of the meat, lot number, contents (are you allergic to any additives) and more.

Re: “Readers Poll Winners: Food & Drink

i love being a clevelander, but i have to agree with half man. too many of us won't venture beyond the chains and that's why so many amazing places close down. get away from the hellish malls and drive into the city!!

Re: “Readers Poll Winners: Food & Drink

Famous Daves is the best BBQ joint? Really Cleveland? Then throw in Chilis or Max and Ermas BBQ too! I mean c'mon! A chain restaurant in N. Olmsted next to the mall is the "best BBQ" in Cleveland? Wow! This poll is similar to the people who answer questions at the site of an event when the local TV folks are scrambling for comments - nothing really to say, just want to get my name out there for my homies to see me at home. Really Cleveland??? Famous Daves???

Re: “Readers Poll Winners: Shops & Wares

I like My Minds Eye but Blue Arrow Records near the Beachland has by far way more vinyl to choose from. I go about once a week and the stock is constantly updated. VINYL RULES!

Re: “Readers Poll Winners: People & Places

ok, you guys are really narrow-minded (SCENE), as reflected by the winners sometimes being the people who have ads in your paper every week. which means your readers rarely venture into anything else. HOW MIDWESTERN! where's the flavor, guys? MELT & HAPPY DOG winning 2 awards each? really? how narrow can u get? there's so much out there in Cleveland & I've only been here a year. yikes.

Referring to your comment "Lakewood is the charming college town that happens not to have a college" - please note that Lakewood does have a college. Virginia Marti College of Art and Design has called Lakewood home for close to 40 years.

Re: “Best of Cleveland Readers' Choice

Still a FAIL, Mario is a great DJ if you show up one night and never go again to here the playlist that is set to repeat apparently. Being a DJ has become too much of a chore I guess. Even 80's night has now been overtaken by the same playlist as every other night. But everyone will keep going because they can't hear "indie" music anywhere else in Akron. If it's not fun anymore GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE! Or take requests*

*From anyone other than a female that you know.
