Meanwhile, Frank Jackson's re-election team gets him a soft spot for softball questions on WCPN. The internal polling must be showing amazing numbers where sleepwalking will be a landslide winner.

Re: “Rick's Cafe to Close July 25; New Eatery to Open in 60 to 90 Days

Inquiring minds wanna know:

* Does anybody who's NOT a headline writer EVER use the word "eatery" in Real Life?

* Does "new concept" really mean "We think it's broken, so we're messing with it until it's unrecognizable...but we think we've fixed it?"

* In Northeast Ahia, does everybody come to Rick's?

*Or even everybody in Chagrin Falls?

If I wanted to hear about the travails of Rick's, I'd seek out the Chagrin social media...whatever the hell that is. Next time, just tweet or text those few Chagrined foodies who care.

Now he'll need to replace the whole damn door, instead of just fixing it. Bad business decision.

Re: “Here is What "nuCLEus" Actually Means

I'm hoping someone will do some looking into what Stark's angle is on this - why build something that is going to cost more than it's valued? The deal for the schools (according to the Mayor's office, etc.) sounds almost too good to be true, so I can't help looking for the catch. Knowing Cleveland, there's got to be one.

Re: “After a 13-Year Hiatus, the Lobster Pot to be Resurrected in Willoughby Hills

My mom, Ann Franey, (now deceased), worked at the South Euclid location as a hostess part time. I would venture to guess around 1973-75. Small world!
Good luck!

Re: “"We Screwed Up Badly;" Dan Gilbert Pulls Tone-Deaf Ad Campaign in Detroit

All I see is one part of an ad that shows what looks to be a photo snapped during some kind of public gathering. Seems like its being taken out of context to incite feelings of racism.

In the case of the Coventry PEACE Park, PEACE stands for People Enhancing A CHILD'S Environment, (not a community's environment as stated in the article).

Re: “Rick's Cafe to Close July 25; New Eatery to Open in 60 to 90 Days

Fantastic news... This place seemed to have a strange appeal to many in Chagrin Falls (my wife and I are NOT among them, though we live inches away...) A few menu items were fairly tasty, but we couldn't see past the grease and grime of the place and the crammed tables and the odd vibe.. It was just off... (the new owners do this for a living.... They have it down.. It will be good.... And clean... Oh and great MICROWAVE shade thrown to the formwe owner in the article.. Hilarious and true but will probably offend old Rick's fans... The truth hurts )

The new owners were put in a bad spot with the former owner opening his mouth with a little too much info too soon - about the restaurant not changing.. Folks already sounding off on them in the Chagrin social media.. Not fair.. If you wanted it to stay the same you should have bought it yourself folks.

Much luck guys, can't wait to try it...

Now buy Gamekeepers....

If the Irving trade demand was actually leaked by someone in LeBron's camp.....the locker room dysfunction has reached epic proportions - since that proverbial fly on the wall is a gossip columnist.

Re: “Opposing Sides Lay Out Q Deal Arguments Before Ohio Supreme Court

What a mess we weave. What made the Q-window project an emergency? Was there a risk to life and limb? No. The mayor and council circumvented the process. If the briefs being submitted in support of the clerks efforts, then in reality, the city residents are not living nor participating in a democracy. In other words, council should jut make every bill or contract an emergency.

In essence, the funds being allocated do belong to the citizens. The objectors to the funding followed the legal process. They gather the signatures for a referendum vote. The Ohio Supreme Court will have to rule upon, was the legal process followed by both parties. The Court will not rule upon the funding decision.

Only in Cleveland.

Re: “Adam Lambert Brings a Contemporary Sound to the Queen Concert at the Q

Great show. Would have been even greater if we weren't already fatigued by a 45 minute wait for the show to start.
