Re: “Abo's Grill is Flying Under the Radar, and It Shouldn't

Have really wanted to like this place. Service is awful on a few separate occasions. Waited forever for our dinners to get served. Every time we walk in they say they are short staffed...? Warning-turn around & leave! Food ok-not great. Pizza's just mediocre. Won't be back.

Re: “Abo's Grill is Flying Under the Radar, and It Shouldn't

Perfect example of why chefs suck today. Cheese on chicken piccata? Anything in the refrigerator tossed into the sauce?

Im tired of people who never ate in a restaurant in their life becoming chefs. You may peddle this shit to the milleniels, but not to the rest of us.

Re: “Rapper Scarface Delivers Two Solid Sets at the Grog Shop

Great. Complete the destruction of what was one of the greatest areas in Cleveland. Keep luring the ghetto, simpleton scum to Coventry with section 8 housing and now ghetto music. Attract all the thugs to Coventry and finish off the remaining businesses there. Already during the day its a creepy area. With concerts like this, it can be creepy at night too.

Re: “Local Rapper Archie Green Seeks to Put His Own Spin on Outreach and Engagement at MoCA Cleveland

Sad bringing this low-life music to university circle. I guess the few areas of Cleveland untouched by the ghetto culture have to be finished off.

MoCA is doing a great disservice to university circle.

Re: “Abo's Grill is Flying Under the Radar, and It Shouldn't

Say what? Ate there recently for the first time and had an awful experience. First, even though there were only a few tables with diners, it took forever to get served and then forever to get our food. My husband had chicken picatta with a slice of cheese melted on top (???) I had gnoccchi the consistency of a hockey pucks. It was served with a sauce that had broccoli in it (???)! Even though the owner was walking around, he never approached our table to ask if everything was okay. I say skip this place, although I doubt if it will be there much longer.

Re: “Thrilling Brahms Brings Audience — and Maestro — to Their Feet at Severance Hall

Certainly sounds like a critic waiting for bait. How exactly would you suggest an alternate program order? Would it make more sense for the rousing finish of the piano concerto to be interrupted with a long setup change for a ten minute work that didnt have much to offer aside from a palatable English horn part? If this self-important critic feels seems to have a history of praising the contemporary work (however cheap it may be) and bashing the standard repertoire. Praising the conductor, yet bashing the interpretation by blaming the musicians or composer. What about the conductors role in all of this? Was it not their responsibility to address the balance issues with the English horn and brass? The only mention of the conductor had nothing to do with his work, but of trivial concerns. A little bit of research wouldve informed this critic that the maestro has a spine problem which confines him to a chair at the podium, but I suppose why research when one can toss off a nice headline?
Unless the aforementioned clarinet solo was written for the second clarinetist, Im afraid that the critic failed to note that their new principal was the one playing. Emotionally flat horn playing? Certainly wasnt as one-dimensional as your criticism. This young journalist may have a way with words, but surely has little musical awareness. Grow up, young man.

Re: “7 Concerts to Catch in Cleveland This Weekend

CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA, Brahms First Symphony. Step out of your comfort zone young hipsters, the greatest musicians in the world appear almost every week, at Severence or Blossom, and the Scene should add them EVERY WEEK to their highlight calendar. Arguably only NYC, LA, CHI and PHIL offer comparables, this is right under your nose, not offered to other hipsters in more envious locations, and you are missing it? They also have good drink offerings, pre-order to avoid lines at intermission. You are welcome.

Re: “The Organ’s Beauty Sparkles in a Refreshing Program of Copland, Paulus and Tchaikovsky

"Doddering"? Is this reviewer some type of meta-joke? If not, Scene, you are hurting you value by publishing this self-important and ridiculous rot. I attended the Saturday performance and the Tchaikovsky presentation was brilliant, I felt engaged throughout, a standout for me and I attend 1/3 of the subscription series every year. I never know which pieces I will find truly enjoyable, may be old or new, and this was a surprising delight. The emotions driving the composition were apparent in the work, aided by the context provided by the excellent program notes. Granted they are relatively expensive for a regular commitment, but I encourage your readers to coffee-up and attend occasionally, if not regularly, much better than spending similar $'s on aging boomer pop tours. Please don't waste further time indulging the efforts of Philip de Oliveira, life is too short. Wait, let me save you some time and make a prediction: in the next review, Philip de Oliveira will find significant portions of the next Orchestra performance terrible, clueless and/or trite.

Re: “Our Favorite Dumb Bad Yelp Reviews of Cleveland Restaurants

This is a completely and utterly worthless article. Wtf cares what you think of anyones review? Jesus if this was a blog in 2005 it would be tired. Oh when you allow crowds to comment you get less than expert press opinion. Thank Yelp cause I don't have to rely on insufferable sycophantic morons like you telling me how great the mustard bbq is. Does scene pay to create this level of content, cause I can write up a editorial on those damn data rates the cell carriers charge for some Xmas money. Pure garbage.
