Re: “Weekend Parking in the Flats East Bank, Warehouse District Just Became More Challenging

Crazy how street parking isn't banned in larger cities and their emergency services can still operate. This smells like bullshit

Re: “Anger and Confusion at City of Cleveland's Communication About and Enforcement of Street Vendor Licenses

The city is not doing itself any favors by trying to increase its revenue stream in this fashion, and putting the squeeze on vendors in order to make a quick buck

.Killing off the street fairs and outdoor festivals that take place between May and September would be killing off much of what makes summer in Cleveland such a joy and a delight.

If the street fairs and outdoor festivals go, it may as well be winter all year round.

Re: “Weekend Parking in the Flats East Bank, Warehouse District Just Became More Challenging

What gets me in Cleveland why is parking selectively enforced? Certain areas Cleveland police let people park all over the place in bus stops, no parking or stopping zones and even on private lots. This kind of selective enforcement really gets me, if you go around University Circle, The Cleveland Clinic , Downtown or near west 25th you better pay close attention to where you park, any other area around Cleveland is open parking no matter what the signs say. Who makes up the areas that are enforced or not enforced??

Re: “Anger and Confusion at City of Cleveland's Communication About and Enforcement of Street Vendor Licenses

As the fair director for the Hessler Street Fair, I can say that we have never encountered this particular problem, including this year's fair in early June. However, I must point out that it has become increasingly difficult (and costly) for a small nonprofit group such as ourselves to continue to put on our event, which will (hopefully) mark its 50th anniversary in 2019. It seems as though the rules change nearly every year, and we have no idea what we will be asked to do until we meet with the steering committee. I'll not get into a detailed account of these issues in this venue (I could go on for paragraphs) but suffice it to say that the future of our event is very much in doubt. I am sure we are not the only event in this position.

Re: “Pet Boa Constrictor Nearly Strangles Its Ohio Owner, Firefighters Cut Off Snake's Head

I've played with boa constrictors and I can tell you they move very slowly and you have to LET it wrap itself around your neck. It happens very slowly and you have plenty of time to get the snake off of you. This idiot let the snake wrap itself around her neck. Good grief.

Re: “Weekend Parking in the Flats East Bank, Warehouse District Just Became More Challenging

Why? Because they collect revenues from the valet companies that they sell the streets to, and taxes from the parking lot companies. At the same time these areas also become "No Stopping" areas, meaning the police can ticket Lyft, Uber, and taxi drivers for pulling over to the curb to pick up a passenger. This has happened to me. The city of Cleveland doesn't care about public safety, they only care about revenues.

Re: “27 Awesomely Eerie Photos of the Mansfield Reformatory

Also from what a friend told me when taking the tour the information given is from an inmate who was there in the 60's and early 70's. For a complete version of life in the OSR someone who stayed there in the late 70's and 80's could fill in the rest of the history and how bad it really got. The true life stories could be the basis for many real life horror stories. R131-581

Re: “27 Awesomely Eerie Photos of the Mansfield Reformatory

Closing day is not right. At the end of December of 1990 there were still around 500 inmates or so living there. That's when the last big riot happened. Last inmates were transferred in January of 1991. R131-581

Lakewood is already destroying its downtown in order to save it, by building its spiffy new Towne Centre on the ruins of its hospital. All the vendors can set up their tents there and sell those ten-dollar plates of Asian noodles.

MORE Millennials? God help us....and God save Lakewood from further Brooklynization.

Re: “Anger and Confusion at City of Cleveland's Communication About and Enforcement of Street Vendor Licenses

Seriously?!? The city is happy to give millions of dollars to fix up the Q for a BILLIONAIRE, but to make up for it, they want all the small fry street vendors to pony up $60 at Night Market, Wade Oval Wednesday, and the Hessler Street Fair so that these events will eventually just shut down, the city will become boring, all the Millenials will move to Lakewood and Cleveland Heights, and everyone will have more money to buy game tickets and casino chips, because those are the only businesses the city actually cares about...
