Re: “No One Seems to Know Who's Responsible for Fixing the Lights on the Guardians of Traffic Statues

With Joe Pagonakis on the case, there WILL be light!

Hope he continues to follow up. Those statues are too unique and cool to be blacked out. Not too many other places have such cool icons.

When there were a ton of complaints about the dark underpasses on MLK and I-90, the local TV news outlets made noise until they were fixed. Not sure if that was Joe's doing, though. Might have been either Ch. 3 or Ch. 8...

Re: “'Cars 3' is an Average Addition to Already Tired Franchise

Bull. Cars 3 was fantastic. This review was probably mostly written three weeks before Davis saw the movie. Cars 3 is a more mature story that its predecessors. It tackles some pretty serious themes such as knowing when one phase of your life is coming to a close, and how to own that change as new opportunities present themselves. The movie also takes a look back at Doc Hudon's history as McQueen looks to the past for inspiration for the future. The movie actually presents far fewer gags as Davis suggests. Lightnight McQueen is also a changed character. While he's not perfect, it's clear that he's learned from his past missteps and uses what he's learned to inspire others. The movie is smart, balanced, and at times, touching. I know your review is your opinion but you're wrong.

Re: “The Most Popular Travel Destinations for Clevelanders in Summer 2017

Who pissed in your pool? Cleveland is a lot cleaner than 25 years ago, Bobby. And more people ARE coming here (in the summertime, obviously), because there's a lot more to do and see and eat than in the past...it's not just the Rock Hall or the Jake anymore. If this town was thought of as a "failed city"--the RNC would have been in Dallas or Vegas, not here.

Sure, there's a lot to bitch about when it comes to Cleveland. I do it all the time. Yes, we could be cleaner, and yes, we are corrupt, but so are most good-sized American metropolitan areas. Cleveland is getting better and worse at the same time, depending on where you live, who you are, and how dark your skin happens to be. Do you even live here? For how long? You just like to have a Dawg to kick around.

As for destinations, SCENE left out Nashville and Carbondale, IL...for the total solar eclipse in August. Gonna be a helluva show and a helluva party. Pray for clear skies and no rain. We had to make our reservations a year ago. Now the rates are through the roof.

Only happens once or twice in a lifetime in any given area. I have been waiting for many years to check this event off my bucket list. And my birthday is the same weekend!

Such franchises become doomed when selling stuff dominates the script -- and audience members are surprised that souvenir stands have yet to roll down the aisles as the end credits appear on the silver screen.

Pnut is the bass player.

You must not have ever heard a 311 song.

Cleveland is not "developing into a tourist destination". LOL Fake news! The link is to "This is Cleveland", not a legit source. Cleveland is a failed city, period. These media people acting like we're a tourist destination make me laugh. We're a corrupt, filthy city. Period.

Re: “This Frank Jackson Fundraiser in Gates Mills is Absolutely Insane

Frank has been the mayor for 12 of my 25 years on the Far West Side. Have things gotten better? Crime is up. Cops are invisible. Streets are crumbling and full of holes in the winter and patches in the summer. Trash pickup has gotten more problematic.

Street sweepers only show up when it's the summer before a primary election, and never in the fall--when cleaning is needed the most...all those leaves do get into the sewer system and block the catch basins, doncha know.

We used to see the sweepers regularly when Mike White was in office...and now? Not so much. Once a year if we're lucky, usually a lot less. And we will get TWO a year if we keep Frank? Big fucking deal.

Gotta tell ya...we don't get jackshit from Jackson and his cronies out here. I can only imagine what the inner-city neighborhoods are dealing with..

All I see is yet another four years of kissing the asses of the folks who run downtown "interests" ( big businesses) while continuing to live in gated communities in the boonies, along with their polo ponies and rich cronies.

Time to replace the bumbler-stumbler-fumbler-mumbler with someone who gets it. And who doesn't apologize for having a thug grandson, or shrug it off when yet another stupid shooting kills multiple victims. Time for some new blood that doesn't apologize for the same old bloodshed.

Fedeli is a "hard-core Catholic" for show only. Ask around in the business community and you'll soon discover no one respects this guy.

Re: “This Frank Jackson Fundraiser in Gates Mills is Absolutely Insane

Behind every dollar given and accepted is a favor and a fool. Chaching! This is politics of this era. The so called disenfranchised , code speak for poor folks that will line up like sheep and think they are voting for Frank to gain better city services pertaining to their communities, pay close attention. You give no money, you get no favor, no love.

Let us not forget that Frank has assured you 2 street cleanings a year. Wow! He is in the process of demolishing houses so that children can have a safe rout to school. Wow! It took him 12 years to figure that out. He promised to address the lead issue. His response, doing this would be to severe on the land-lords. So much for the concern of the children. Wow!

That's our boy Frank. Accept the money Frank. Another 4 years of a foolish puppet.

Without a doubt Jackson is a puppet and that is how we in the business community like it. The people arent smart enough to realize we run the show. If Jackson doesnt play ball, we will just move our business elsewhere, or threaten to until all give in to our demands.

Re: “Best French

You have got to be kidding. L'Albatros is no mitre French than the B-Spot. I ordered Chocrute and got a greasy fried skillet of slope. Sorry but this is no French Resturant

Re: “This Frank Jackson Fundraiser in Gates Mills is Absolutely Insane

a rich ad executive-turned-restauranteur whines that there's nothing wrong with garnering favor from the wealthy in the first comment *because he is one*.

Might not have ever felt like he's bought and paid for, Al, but his policy is really obvious! Nothing for residents; everything for the CEOs.

....and ol' Frank will return to the city and mumble through prepared scripts how he understands the financial and personal fears of residents -- after gleefully ordering the bulldozing of more homes.

We need everyone caring about our city. What's actually wrong with him garnering support from the wealthy? I've never felt like he's the bought and paid for sort of person
